The Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center and Fort Mandan in Washburn will open free of charge on Saturday as part of Smithsonian magazine's eighth annual Museum Day Live.

The program was started to inspire learning and the spread of knowledge by encouraging museums to offer free admission as do the Smithsonian Institute's facilities in Washington, D.C.

The Interpretive Center and Fort Mandan are one of four museums in North Dakota participating.

Visitors interested in the free admission on Saturday must download a Museum Day Live ticket at www.smithsonian.com/museumday. The ticket is good for free entrance for two people, with a limit of one ticket per household, per email address.

For more information about Museum Day Live 2012, visit www.smithsonian.com/museumday.

The Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center and Fort Mandan are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays.
