Book launch for Clay Jenkinson's new book, For the Love of North Dakota

Posted on 10/19/2012

On Wednesday, Oct. 24, the Dakota Institute will host a book launch for Clay Jenkinson's new book, For the Love of North Dakota and Other Essays: Sundays with Clay in The Bismarck Tribune. The book, published by The Dakota Institute Press, is a collection of Jenkinson's favorite columns he has written for the Bismarck Tribune, along with choice other essays about North Dakota and life on the Great Plains.

According to David Borlaug, president of the Lewis & Clark Fort Mandan Foundation and The Dakota Institute, the essays collected in the book are a love song to North Dakota that describes our spirit of place as a state, and depict North Dakota and the Great Plains as beautiful and compelling.

"For anyone wanting to ‘get' North Dakota during this time of unmatched attention for our state, this is the one book that will explain it all," Borlaug said.

The book launch will be held at the Missouri Room of the Bismarck State College Student Union. There will be a reception at 7:30 p.m., followed by a program. The launch is sponsored by the Bismarck Tribune, KLJ and Sheila Schafer.

The Bismarck Tribune will be selling copies of For the Love of North Dakota and Other Essays at the event. It is also available through and at booksellers throughout the region.

NOTE: A book signing with Clay will take place on Sunday, October 28 at noon at the Bismarck Barnes & Noble and Tuesday, October 30 at 6:30 p.m. at Zandbroz Variety in Fargo.
