MDU Resources Foundation Funds Free Admission at Lewis & Clark Center and Fort Mandan

Posted on 3/15/2016

WASHBURN, N.D. - Students and children will get free admission to the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center and Fort Mandan in 2016, thanks to a grant from MDU Resources Foundation, Bismarck, to the Lewis & Clark Fort Mandan Foundation.

"We have been proud to support these wonderful facilities with grants to the Foundation since its inception 20 years ago and happy to make possible free admission for their most vital visitors, students and youngsters," says MDU Resources Foundation president Cynthia Norland.

The grant will be used by the Foundation to purchase admissions through North Dakota Parks & Recreation Department, which operates the facilities at Washburn. The Foundation had been responsible for the Center and Fort Mandan since 1997 and the transfer took place May 1 of last year. The Foundation continues to provide financial and other support to the Parks Department, including sponsoring exhibits and special events.

"Our Foundation continues the important role of supporting and providing enhancements to the State-owned facilities and we are so pleased that MDU Resources continues to be one of our partners," says Foundation president David Borlaug.

Teachers are encouraged to schedule school tours in advance by calling 701-462-8535. All school age or younger children are included in the free admission, whether with school tours or family.
