Become a Lewis & Clark Adventure Volunteer!

Two hundred years ago Meriwether Lewis, William Clark and 40-some volunteers built and resided in a three sided structure they named Fort Mandan. Today you can be part of their lasting legacy by sharing the Corps of Discovery’s story with visitors from around the world by becoming a volunteer at Fort Mandan and the North Dakota Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center at Washburn, ND. Washburn is located 38 miles North of Bismarck, on US Highway 83.

The Lewis & Clark Fort Mandan Foundation’s Volunteer program has many exciting opportunities for everyone. Become part of the most thrilling time in North Dakota’s history since Lewis and Clark resided here two centuries ago.

Volunteering can be on a daily basis; one day a week, month, or any day that is convenient. Make your own schedule. Are events more your style? Our special events are always exciting, entertaining and educational. Click here to see a full Calendar of Events.

The Extended Stay Volunteer Program for RV’ers (either couples or individuals), is available as an eight day or one month stay, and is seasonal from May 1 through October 31, 2005. Training is provided for all positions on site and all volunteers must be at least 14 years old. You will receive an RV site with full hook-ups, discounts in our gift shops and at local attractions, along with other incentives that will benefit you as part of the Volunteer Program. Listed below are some of the positions and short duty descriptions.
